MM10Collab: Abandoned Memories

The final collab piece between and myself for Capcom Unity's MM10 Collaboration Contest Week.

I really was itching to draw the Wily Weapon Archive Machine for this contest. Thankfully, Duckaiser was quite willing to do the same. My idea was that rather than just having the static image of the Robot Master on the screen, I thought it would be so much cooler if their evil robo brains were implanted into the weapon itself. So that even though they physically couldn't battle Mega Man after being defeated so long ago, Wily still kept their evil side alive in some super computer or something to that extent. And through this machine, they get to have some fun again.

When we offered to let Reverend Fetus join us, we thought it would work perfectly. Each one of us would be able to draw one of the three Weapon Archive boss battles, each with one of the three playable heroes. His piece was to be the middle, with Protoman battling the Ring Man/Napalm Man/Flame Man machine.

I thought it would be cool if our battles progressed in a way, so originally my Mega would be facing right battling one pod. Fetus's Proto would be in the center battling two pods. And Duckaiser's Bass would be facing left battling all three pods. That way our work would be split up evenly, and everything would sync up well.

Once Revered Fetus injured his hand and had to drop out two days before the deadline, there had to be a change in plans. As a result, I threw together that Proto in the rain piece real quick. Yes, it completely messes up the order in the stage looking at it this way. But I thought a monochrome look in the middle was the best way to separate/distinguish Duckaiser and my pieces in the end. And the falling rain still keeps with the mood and play of the stage at least.

I really wanted to do a little more to the background as well, but I thought the skulls as holes of a filmstrip still sorta worked to give the impression of all three of the heroes having their battle snapshot taken in the stage.

I know there won't be voting amongst the community this round (VOTE TEAM 'DUCK MIYABI' ANYWAYS! LOL), but it was still a really fun project to work on. And I still feel bad Reverend Fetus was unable to completely work on his piece and had to drop out. But overall, I think we both feel good about this finished piece.
